Upstream: Activities out in the field, e.g. exploring for crude oil and natural gas, drilling and completing wells, and bringing the resources to the surface.

Midstream: Activities between the upstream and downstream, e.g. gathering, refining, processing, storing and transporting crude oil and natural gas

Downstream: Activities that bring oil and gas products to the consumer, e.g. selling and distributing fuels like gasoline, natural gas and propane, as well as products made from oil and gas
